The Team

Ian
Ian likes to think of himself as the boss, but his wife Lee-ann doesn't agree. He was born in Essex (no jokes please) UK and started out as a truck driver for a small timber company. Curiosity got the better of him and at the age of 18 packed his bags and headed to Australia to search for the land of plenty, after several months travelling around the west and north coast he finally settled in Cape Tribulation , North Queensland where he spent the next few years working with horses in the Daintree rainforests.

In 1993 Ian was one of the few people on a plane coming TO South Africa at a time when most where considering leaving the country (no essex jokes!). He settled on Triple B Ranch in the Waterberg region training horses for a Horseback Safari operation. Ian later teamed up with lee-ann his wife and partner in crime and moved to the big city and bright lights of Johannesburg to start Waterberg Transfers in 1999.

Lee-ann (The Boss)

Lee-ann was born in a small town on the east of Johannesburg away from all the hustle and bustle of the big smoke. A grade A student she excelled at school and graduated with a diploma in marketing management. A real water sport addict Lee-ann spent much of her time water sking and competing country wide in slalom, trick and ramping. She also held the ladies slalom record in south Africa for over a year and was awarded provincial colours. After 7 years as a public relations officer for BIDVEST she started her own company with husband Ian (the essex bloke).

Lawrence - Operations Manager:
Qualified as a dive instructor lawrence spent many years teaching diving in Sodwana bay, the Mozambique Islands and Aliwal Shoal.
Lawrence also has his springbok colours for clay pigeon shooting and has competed in the sun city world championship. He also advanced in the 1987 national event where he obtained first place ahead of the current world champion. He has completed his advanced driving coarse with BMW in invasive and tactical driving and joined Waterberg Transfers in April 2004. 


Adam:
Born in Lephelale ( Ellisras, Limpopo ) Adam is fluent in five languages ( English , Africans , Tswana, Northern Sotho, Zulu,) He is a qualified paramedic and started out his driving career as an ambulance driver in Lephelale. Adam spent several years working in the hospitality industry working on horse safaris in the Limpopo region.
He has a keen interest in chess, soccer scrabble and is a singer with the local choir.

Colin:
Colin grew up in Pretoria and spent many of his younger years competing in water polo. He optained his provisional colours and his royal life saving qualification and moved to the coast to work as a life saver in False Bay. Colin spent several years in the South African Navy and was posted in Saldwana and the Salisbury Islands. After a while spent travelling through europe Colin return to South Africa and began a 27 year career in the film industry. Following his love of film and photography he later went on to open the first photographic labratory in Venda.

Dave:
Born in Southport, UK Dave emigrated to South Africa and spent many years as a structural Engineer in the Marien and mining industry. He has travelled through out most of South Africa and Namibia and has a genuine love for the african Wildlife and the enviroment they live in.

Mannie:
Mannie has achieved one of the highest possible levels as a dive insructor and spent many years diving in various country around the world. His love of the outdoors and the South African Wildlife will ensure you travels informative and interesting.

Thandi:
Having spent many years in the hospitality industry as a game lodge co-ordinator Thandi has a great knowledge of the country and it's cultures. Originally from Pietermaritzburg in the heart of "the Valley of a thousand hills" Thandi enjoys the outdoors and the time she spends in the many game reserves.

Steven:
Born in the waterberg Steven has been lucky enough to grow up in one of South Africa’s magnificent wilderness area’s. Having spent many years working in the area Steven has gained a great deal of knowledge about the area and it’s community. Steven spent two year working for the Waterberg Welfare prior to joining Waterberg Transfers.The Waterberg Welfare Society (WWS) was formed in 2000 primarily to provide help and support to those individuals in the Waterberg who are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
