What to ask?
To ensure that you are getting that absolute best possible service whilst in South Africa it is important to know who you are dealing with, or in the case of transfer companies, who you are travelling with. Below are a number of question you need to ask from your nominated transfer company should it be one other than Waterberg Transfers. Question 1: What kind of knowledge does the company and the driver have of the area's being travelled to and through en-route?
Answer 1: Waterberg Transfers have been travelling to the Safari lands of the North Provinces for over 6 years and know the area's and game reserves better than most. We also have a vast knowledge of alternative routes to be used in the event of road closures or bad weather. We are constantly in communication with the destination lodge / hotel or game reserve to advise of late arrival or changes to the Scheduled transfer.
Question 2: What is the vehicle breakdown Policy?
Answer 2: With Watererg Transfers being the prefered transfer company for many of the Limpopo and North west Province Game reserves we are able to boast a back up fleet on most area's. This is also backed with a full road side assistance and tow in service.
Question 3: In the event of an accident what kind of response can be expect from both a recovery and medical aspect?
Answer 3: Each vehicle is covered with a 24 hours a day Evacuation and roadside medical assistance from the scene of the accident to the entrance door of the relevant Medical Facility.
Question 4: What kind of Qualifications does the Driver have?
Answer 4: All of Waterberg Transfers driver hold a Professional Driving Permit (PDP) which is renewed every 24 months. This is obtained from the Department of Transport and requires the driver to pass a medical fitness test, Optomitrist Test and obtain Police clearence certificate. In South Africa it is law for all drivers transporting passenger to carrry a (PDP) professional driving permits.
Question 5: What amount of Passenger Liability Insurance does the vehicle have?
Answer 5: All Waterberg Transfers vehicle's have Passenger Liability of R20,000,000.00 per vehicle ( twenty million Rand ) up to 13 seater vehicle's. Larger Coaches have passenger liability up to R10,000,000.00 (one hundred million per vehicle)
Question 6: How old are the Vehicle's?
Answer 6: We re-new our vehicle's on a regular basic depending on the age and the distance travelled by the vehicle. The average age of our exsisting fleet is 12 months old.
Question 7: What kind of vehicle will be used?
Answer 7: Waterberg Transfers have a large varity of vehicle to suit the needs of any group, all of our vehicles are air conditioned and have three point safety belts for every passenger. Our fleet comprises of Volkswagen, Toyota and Mercedes Benz Saloons , Volkswagen, Toyota and Mercedes Benz Minibusses.
Question 8: Does the Vehicle have Department of Transport Permits?
Answer 8: All Waterberg Transfers Vehicle's have relavant and current Department of Transport Permits within the bounderies of South Africa. In South Africa Tranportation permits are law on all passenger carrying vehicle.
Question 9: What is the vehicle Safety Policy?
Answer 9: All our Vehicle's go through an 80 point mechanical check once a month as well as a 30 point check safety check prior to each journey travelled.
Question 10: How long has the company been in business and have they previously done this type of work?
Answer 10: Waterberg Transfers was Established in 1999 specifically to transfers tourist on taylor made vacations to South Africa: Since then we have clocked up in excess of 6 Million kms.
Question 11: Will any of the work be sub-contracted out?
Answer 11: Whilst Waterberg Transfers have one of the fastest growing Fleets in the industry we do have situations of over booking. Should we use sub-contracting companies for transfers we will ensure that the nominated transfer company meets the above requirements. Waterberg Transfers will still over see the logistic of the transfer and stay in contact with the relavant parties at all times.
Question 12: Does the company foresee any problems with my schedule specifications?
Answer 12: It is always a good idea to ask for advise about transfers times ( duration ) so as not to jeapodise flight departure times and deadlines etc. We recommend re-confirming all transfer times 24 hours prior to departure.
Question 13: What kind of accreditations does the company have?
Answer 13: Waterberg Transfers is a Member of the following Associations: SATSA, SAACI and Waterberg Biosphere.
