The Apartheid Museum complex first opened its doors in 2001 and is dedicated to illustrating apartheid and 20th century South Africa.
A series of 22 individual exhibition areas takes visitors through a powerful, emotional journey that brings to life the story of Apartheid right up to the first democratic elections held in 1994.
Please allow approximately two hours for the self-guided tour of the museum.
The Museum is open Tuesday to Sunday 09:00 – 17:00 and is closed on Mondays.
*Due to the graphic nature of the Museum’s content, we do not recommend the tour for children under the age of 11
